Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of blood fat indicators on brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV)and its potential value in predicting arterial stiffness. Methods The patients(n=1013)received arterial stiffness detection were retrospectively analyzed at the Outpatient Department in the Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai City from Jan.2019 to Oct.2022,and all patients were divided, according to their levels of blood pressure(BP),into hypertension group(n=494)and normal group(n=519).BaPWV>1600 cm/s was defined as abnormal arterial stiffness. Results The age, body mass index(BMI),BP,blood sugar,baPWV,apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A-1(ApoB/ApoA-1)and triglycerides(TG)were significantly higher, and ApoA-1 and high-density lipoprotein(HDL)were significantly lower in hypertension group than those in normal group(P<0.05).There were no differences in ApoB,total cholesterol(TC)and low-density lipoprotein(LDL)between 2 groups. The results of correlation analysis showed that, except of ApoA-1,all indicators of blood fat were significantly correlated to baPWV,and HDL was negatively correlated to baPWV in normal group. There was no significant correlation between blood fat and baPWV in hypertension group. The results of single-factor linear regression analysis showed that, after adjusting for confounders in normal group, correlation between TC and baPWV was not significant, and other blood fat indicators still affected baPWV.The results of ROC curve analysis showed that only ApoB had predictive value to arteriosclerosis(AUC=0.592,P=0.048).Conclusion Arteriosclerosis is correlated to many blood fat indicators, which is more significant in population with normal BP.Compared to traditional blood fat indicators,ApoB is more closely related to baPWV and has predictive value to early identification of arterial stiffness.
