Abstract:Objective To explore the association between postprandial triglyceride(TG)levels and coronary artery disease and its severity. Methods A systematic search was conducted in PubMed,Embase,Web of Science, the Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP Database, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,to collect observational studies on the association between postprandial TG levels and coronary artery disease. The search period was from database inception to September 2024.Stata 17.0 and RevMan 5.4 software were used to calculate odds ratios(OR)and 95%confidence intervals(CI).Results A total of 20 studies were included, involving 2979 participants. The pooled results using a random-effects model indicated that elevated postprandial TG levels were associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease(OR=2.73,95%CI:1.91~3.89,P<0.05).Subgroup analysis revealed that publication year, study type, and sampling time were the primary sources of heterogeneity(P<0.05).Sensitivity analysis suggested that the conclusions were robust and reliable. The fixed-effects model showed that high postprandial TG levels were associated with increased severity of coronary artery lesions(OR=2.00,95%CI:1.53~2.61,P<0.05).The funnel plot showed that the scatter distribution was mostly symmetrical, and no potential publication bias was detected by Egger's test or Begg's test(P>0.05).Conclusion Elevated postprandial TG levels are risk factors for coronary heart disease and the aggravation of coronary artery lesions.Monitoring and managing postprandial TG levels in high-risk cardiovascular populations is crucial to reduce the occurrence of coronary artery disease and slow its progression.
