Abstract:Objective To evaluate and synthesize the evidence on the efficacy of virtual reality technology in the cardiac rehabilitation. Methods An Umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses was conducted.Medical and allied health professional databases(CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP Database,CBM,PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,CINAHL,Cochrane Library,Epistemonikos,JBI and the PROSPERO registry)were searched from inception to March 2024.Two reviewers independently undertook title, abstract, and full text screening independently.Review quality was assessed using the Risk of Bias Assessment Tool for Systematic Reviews(AMSTAR).Results A total of eight systematic reviews were included, with seven of these being meta-analyses.The median AMSTAR score for the studies was 10(7,11).Eighteen outcome measures were extracted from the meta-analyses for further analysis,of which ten demonstrated significant improvements(including depression, anxiety, stress, exercise ability, patient satisfaction,etc.).However,the effectiveness of virtual reality technology on other outcomes remains inconclusive. Conclusion Virtual reality technology is a beneficial supplement in the field of cardiac rehabilitation, capable of enhancing patient recovery outcomes and satisfaction. However, further high-quality clinical studies and systematic reviews are needed to confirm its broader applicability.
