Abstract:Objective To discuss the potential correlation between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and risk of coronary heart disease(CHD)in patients with nocturnal hypertension, and review the value of NLR to CHD as a novel predictor. Methods The patients(n=653)were selected, and divided into CHD group(n=258)and non-CHD group(n=395).The clinical baseline materials were compared between 2 group. The independent risk factors for CHD occurrence were analyzed by using multi-factor Logistic regression analysis. The predictive value of NLR was reviewed after drawn ROC curve, and a subgroup analysis was conducted. Results The level of NLR was significantly higher in CHD group than that in non-CHD group. The results of multi-factor Logistic regression analysis showed that high NLR level was an independent risk factor for CHD in patients with nocturnal hypertension(OR=1.27,95%CI:1.12~1.43,P<0.01),and for every 1-unit increased in NLR,CHD risk increased by 27%.AUC of ROC curve was 0.62(95%CI:0.58~0.66),which showed that NLR had some predictive value to CHD occurrence. The results of subgroup analysis showed that higher NLR level was significantly correlated to increased CHD risk regardless of age, gender, diabetes or hyperlipidemia. Conclusion NLR may serve as a novel biomarker for predicting CHD risk in patients with nocturnal hypertension, which has potential application value for individualized risk assessment and early prevention of CHD.
