Abstract:Objective To analyze the publication status, research hotspots and trend analysis in the field related to hypertension and fundus lesions, and provide references for future prevention, treatment and research directions. Methods The databases of CNKI and Web of Science were retrieved for collecting literature related to hypertension and fundus lesions, and a bibliometric analysis was conducted by using CiteSpace(6.2.R4)visual software from Jan.1,2004 to Aug.8,2024.Results A total of 5,862 documents were included, comprising 969 Chinese articles and 4,893 English articles. The country with the highest number of English publications was the United States(1441 articles),followed by China(659 articles). The foreign research institution with the most publications was the National University of Singapore(250 articles).Among domestic research institutions,Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University had the highest number of publications.Wong Tien Yin was the most prolific English author(231 articles). The level of collaboration between authors and research institutions in Chinese literature was relatively low.Among the top 10 research institutions by publication volume, medical universities dominated, accounting for 80%.The research focuses in English literature emphasized areas such as cardiovascular system, cardiology and neuro-ophthalmology,with high-frequency keywords including"ocular hypertension","intraocular pressure","open angle glaucoma",and"hypertension".In contrast,Chinese literature research hotspots were more inclined towards hypertension and fundus lesions, with prevalent keywords such as"hypertension","risk factors","fundus changes",and"diabetes".Conclusion From 2004 to 2007,research on hypertension and fundus lesions experienced a steady and slow increase, and since 2015,it has shown relatively stable interest. The focus of research in the field of hypertension and fundus lesions has shifted from microvascular abnormalities and gene expression to the levels of macular and hypertensive retinopathy.Research in this field indicates that OCT angiography has broad application prospects, with vascular activation being a hot research topic. However, there is limited collaboration between different institutions and researchers. It is recommended that researchers strengthen their connections and that research institutions enhance scientific collaboration to provide comprehensive and beneficial reference information for the prevention and treatment of hypertension and fundus lesions.
