Abstract:Objective To analyze the causal relationship between uric acid and hypertension using Mendelian randomization. Methods The IEU OpenGWAS database was selected, and single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)were used as a tool to analyze the causal relationship between uric acid and hypertension using Mendelian randomization. Results The results of the inverse variance weighted analysis showed a close causal relationship between uric acid and hypertension(HR=1.014,95%CI:1.010~1.018,P<0.01).MR Egger analysis(HR=1.016,95%CI:1.003~1.019,P<0.01)and weighted median analysis(HR=1.011,95%CI:1.005~1.017,P<0.01)also indicated a causal relationship between uric acid and hypertension. The heterogeneity test results showed that there was no heterogeneity in MR-Egger regression(P=0.429)and inverse variance weighted method(P=0.323).The funnel plot results show that the distribution of all SNPs was approximately symmetrical, indicating that the causal relationship between uric acid and hypertension is less affected by potential biases. The sensitivity test results show that removing any SNPs did not have a significant impact on the overall analysis results. Conclusion High uric acid levels are closely related to the occurrence of hypertension, and actively controlling uric acid levels may help slow down the occurrence and development of hypertension.
