Abstract:Objective To discuss the influence on blood donation on autonomic nerve function through recording Holter and ambulatory blood pressure(ABP)before and after voluntary blood donation(400 ml). Methods Male healthy volunteers(n=38)were chosen as study subjects and followed up for 1 month after blood donation(400 ml).The changes of Holter and ABP were recorded 1 d before blood donation and 1 d,7 d and 1 month after blood donation. Results The average heart rate and the slowest heart rate increased at all time points after blood donation, and reached the highest value on the third day(P<0.05).The analysis on the total heart rate variability(HRV)showed thatstandard deviation of NN intervals(SDNN)decreased at all time points after blood donation, and reached the lowest value on the third day(P<0.05).The analysis on indexes reflecting sympathetic nerve show that standard deviation of the average of all consecutive 5-minute NN intervals(SDANN)and standard deviation of all NN interperiod indices(SDNNIDX)decreased at all time points after blood donation, and reached the lowest value on the third day(P<0.05).The analysis on indexes reflecting vagal nerve showed that root mean square difference of successive NN intervals(rMSSD)decreased at all time points after blood donation(P<0.05).The differences in indexes of Holter had no statistical significance at all time points before and after blood donation, and differences in pairwise comparison had no statistical significance at 4 follow-up time points after blood donation(P>0.05).Conclusion After voluntary blood donation(400 ml),the body activates autonomic nervous system, activates sympathetic nerve and inhibits vagal nerve.
