Qualitative studies on self-care experiences in patients with chronic heart failure:a Meta-synthesis

Abstract:Objective To systematically review and synthesize self-care experiences in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF),and provide basis for patients to improve their disease coping ability and quality of life(QOL).Methods The databases of Web of Science,PubMed,EMbase,The Cochrane Library,EBSCO,CBM,CNKI and WanFang Data were retrieved with computer for collecting the qualitative studies related to self-care experiences in CHF patients from database establishment time to Dec.2023.The quality of included literature was reviewed by applying the quality evaluation criteria(2016)for qualitative research of Evidence-based Health Care Center of Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)in Australia.The literature research results were summarized and integrated by using pooled integration method.Results There were totally 7 articles included and 28 definite study results were extracted,which were summed up as 6 new categories,and synthesized 3 results as follows:cognition and ability,demand and support,and adaptation and renewal.Conclusion Nursing workers should pay more attention to self-care status of CHF patients,give them professional and emotional supports,promote their competency,and improve their QOL.
