Abstract:Population aging has become a widespread social phenomenon in developed and some developing countries around the world.As a result,the medical problems associated with an aging population have received widespread attention.MHAS database is a national longitudinal study of Mexican adults aged 50 years and older.Aims to prospectively assess the impact of disease on health,functioning and mortality in adults over 50 years of age in urban and rural areas of Mexico.The overall objective of the database is to examine the aging process and its burden of disease and disability in a large representative group of older Mexicans using a broad socioeconomic perspective.The baseline survey was conducted in 2001 and covered national and urban/rural adults born in 1951 or earlier.And follow-up surveys were conducted in 2003,2012,2015,2018 and 2021.In this paper,we will briefly introduce the MHAS database and describe the data extraction method.
