Abstract:Objective To follow up the patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), compare the clinical features in patients of different genders and discuss the gender difference in long-term prognosis after PCI. Methods CHD patients undergone PCI were chosen from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University from Jan. 2016 to Mar. 2016, and they were followed up for averagely 12.6 months. The incidence of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) was obtained. The patients were divided into male group and female group, and their clinical data and MACCE incidence were compared. Results There were totally 745 patients enclosed in the study, including 502 (67.38%) male patients and 243 (32.62%) female ones. The age of female patients was 65.02±9.97, which was significantly higher than that of male ones (60.98±12.27). Compared with male patients, the body mass index (BMI) increased significantly in female patients. The percentage of female patients complicated by hypertension was 58.44% and that of male patients, was 45.62%, which was significantly higher in female patients. In blood biochemical tests, the levels of serum creatinine (SCr), uric acid (UA) and bilirubin (BIL) were significantly lower in female patients than those in male ones. The levels of total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein ((LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) were significantly lower in female patients than those in male ones. The total incidence of MACCE was 13.17% in female patients and 7.57% in male patients, which was significantly higher in female patients. The incidence of cardiac death increased significantly in female patients compared with male ones. Conclusion There is significant difference in risk factors between female CHD patients and male ones. The incidence of long-term MACCE after PCI is also higher in female CHD patients than that in male ones.
