Abstract:To evaluate the effect of intensive antihypertensive therapy on cardiac morphology and galectin-3 expression in serum in patients with hypertension complicated with left atrial volume index (LAVI). Methods A total of 600 patients with primary hypertension who underwent cardiovascular surgery in the Department of Cardiology, Henan Provincial People's Hospital from 2015-01 to 2016-12, and completed follow-up were enrolled, aged ≥18 years. The relevant basic data of the selected persons, laboratory test results, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to detect the expression levels of serum galactose agglutination-3 before and after treatment. The left atrial volume of the two groups before and after treatment was detected by echocardiography. Calculate the volume index. The follow-up time was December 2017, and the effect of intensive antihypertensive therapy on LAVI and galectin-3 was explored. The correlation analysis was performed by Pearson analysis. Results A total of 600 subjects completed the follow-up. There were 300 patients in the intensive treatment group and 300 patients in the standard control group. The follow-up was 15.4±3.2 months. There was no statistical difference between the two groups. At the end of follow-up, the number of antihypertensive drugs increased in the intensive group compared with the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), galectin-3, NT-pro BNP decreased, LAVI decreased, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), while compliance decreased, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). There were 3 cases of all-cause death control group and 2 cases of intensive group. The mortality rate decreased during the observation period (χ2=3.68), and the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). The rate of rehospitalization decreased for various reasons, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Adverse reactions increased, and the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion Intensive antihypertensive therapy can improve left atrial volume index, reduce serum galectin-3 and NT-pro BNP levels, reduce the rate of rehospitalization, and play a role in preventing early complications of hypertension.
