Abstract:Objective To study the expressions of serum MiR-140-3p and MiR-142-5p, and discuss the relationship among them and cardiovascular outcomes and mortality in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods CHD patients (n=542) were chosen into CHD group and healthy controls (n=500) were chosen into control group from the Tenth People’s Hospital of Shenyang City from Jan. 2011 to Oct. 2014. The expressions of serum MiR-140-3p and MiR-142-5p were detected by using RT-qPCR, and the relationship among them and cardiovascular outcomes and mortality was analyzed. Results Compared with control group, the expression of miR-140-3p was significantly down-regulated (P<0.01)), and expression of miR-142-5p was significantly up-regulated (P<0.01) in CHD group. The incidence of cardiovascular events and mortality increased significantly in patient with low-expression of miR-140-3p compared with patients with high-expression of miR-140-3p (P<0.01). The incidence of cardiovascular events and mortality decreased significantly in patient with low-expression of miR-142-5p compared with patients with high-expression of miR-142-5p (P<0.01). The results of Logistic analysis showed that miR-140-3p and miR-142-5p were predictive factors of CHD. Conclusion The expressions of serum miR-140-3p and miR-142-5p are abnormal in CHD patients and they are all correlated to cardiovascular outcomes and mortality, which indicates that both of them take part in the occurrence and development of CHD.
