Abstract:TCGA(The project of The Cancer Genome Atlas)was launched by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in 2006.It is the largest cancer genome database at present. The TCGA aims to catalogue and discover major cancer-causing genome alterations and gene expression profile in almost all kinds of human tumors by using large-scale genome sequencing and integrated analyses, which provides a huge data base for exploring meaningful genomic changes and discovering biological mechanisms that affect tumors. The database provides researchers with free data for relevant research. This paper aims to introduce the database and the method of extracting tumor data.
