Abstract:To investigate the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) level and left atrial volume index (LAVI) in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and the predictive value of recurrence after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation. Methods Clinical data of 54 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation undergoing catheter ablation from March 2014 to June 2016 in Changzhou Second Hospital were analyzed, including LAVI, 25 (OH) D, etc. According to LAVI, all patients were divided into LAVI≤34 ml/m2 group (n=38) and LAVI > 34 ml/m2 group (n=16). The relationship between 25 (OH) D and LAVI was investigated. The blank period of recurrence of atrial fibrillation was 3 months. After (15.6±2.5) months of follow-up, 19 patients (35.2%) had recurrence. Univariate analysis was performed on the data of recurrent and non-recurrent groups. Correlation analysis and multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis were used to find predictors of AF recurrence. Results 25(OH)D levels were negatively correlated with LAVI, and patients with higher LAVI had lower 25(OH)D levels. Multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis was performed on the recurrent and non-recurrent groups. The results showed that LAVI (OR=7.672, 95%CI:1.361~43.243, P=0.021) and CRP (OR=1.928, 95%CI:1.050~3.543, P=0.034) was an independent risk factor for recurrence after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation. Conclusion Low levels of 25(OH)D are associated with increased LAVI in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. LAVI is an independent risk factor for recurrence after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation.
