Abstract:Objective To review the relationship between diabetes mellitus (DM) and intramural aortic hematoma (IMH).Methods IMH patients were chosen into IMH group (n=186) and non-IMH patient, with matched sex and age with IMH group, were chosen into control group (n=372) by applying 1 to 2 matched casecontrol study. The data of population statistic materials, clinical features and risk factors were collected in all chosen population. The relationship between DM and IMH was analyzed by using multi-factor non-conditional Logistic regression model. Results The difference in age and sex had no statistical significance between 2 groups (all P>0.05).The percentages of smoking and hypertensive cases were significantly higher in IMH group than those in control group (all P<0.001), and incidence of DM was significantly lower in IMH group than that in control group (3.8%vs.12.9%, P<0.001).The results of single-factor Logistic regression analysis (OR=0.11, 95%CI:0.04~0.28) and multi-factor Logistic regression analysis (OR=0.09, 95%CI:0.06~0.31) showed that DM was a protective factor of IMH.Conclusion The incidence of DM is lower in IMH patients.DM was negatively correlated to IMH, and higher blood sugar may play a protective role in development course of IMH.
