Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of different educational levels on the compliance of dual anti-platelet therapy (DAPT) in patients after PCI. Methods The elderly patients (n=1423) under gone PCI were prospectively chosen, and divided, according to their educational levels, into group 1 (illiteracy), group 2 (educated in primary school), group 3 (educated in middle school), group 4 (educated in high school) and group 5 (university diploma or above). All patients were followed up for surveying DAPT compliance for 1 y after PCI. Results The percentage of patients with complete DAPT compliance was 70.9% in groups 1 and 2, 80.4% in group 3, 88.9% in group 4 and 95.8% in group 5 (P<0.05). There were 14 cases of in-stent thrombosis all in non-compliance patients, and incidence was 1%. The incidence of thrombosis was the highest in group 2 and was the lowest in group 5. Conclusion The influence of different educational level on DAPT compliance has significant difference in patients undergone PCI. The patients with lower educational level have poor compliance and higher incidence of adverse events. Their compliance can be improved after appropriate education.
