Abstract:Objective To study the correlation between left atrial volume index (LAVI) and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) detected by using echocardiogram in patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Methods The left atrial anteroposterior diameter (LAD) of parasternal section long axis, and left atrial suproinferior diameter (SA) and mediolateral diameter (SB) of apical 4-cavity section were detected by using echocardiogram in patients after CABG. The left atrial volume (LAV), body surface area (BSA) and left atrial volume index (LAVI) were calculated and correlation between them was studied. Results The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that PCWP0 was positively correlated to LAD0 and LAVI, and was not correlated to SA0 and SB0. After correcting hypertension history and BSA, LAVI was positively correlated to PCWP0 (r=0.446, P=0.033) and LAD0 (r=0.740, P<0.001). Conclusion LAVI is positively correlated to PCWP in patients after CABG.
