Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between serum γ-glutamyl transferase (γ-GT) and coronary artery calcification. Methods 153 patients underwent coronary 64 layers CT scan from March 2015 to May 2017 were selected. According to the level of γ-GT, patients were divided into the first quartile group (n=40), the second quartile group (n=45), the third quartile group (n=42) and the fourth quartile group (n=26). According to the total calcification integral, the patients were divided into calcified groups (calcium scores greater than 1, n=95) and non-calcifying groups (calcium integration=0, n=58). The clinical data, coronary calcification and Gensini score of different grading γ-GT patients were compared, and the correlation between γ-GT and blood lipids index and Gensini score was analyzed. At the same time the factors influencing the risk of coronary artery calcification were analyzed. Results Except high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), with the increase of serum levels of γ-GT, the history of smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, blood fat index, coronary calcification proportion and Gensini score were significantly higher (P<0.05). The serum γ-GT level in patients with coronary artery calcification was positively correlated with total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and Gensini score (P<0.05), while there was no correlation with HDL-C (P>0.05). The single factor and multiple factors Logistic regression analysis showed that the age, history of diabetes, hypertension history, HDL-C, LDL-C and γ-GT were risk factors for coronary artery calcification. Conclusion The level of γ-GT in serum is closely related to coronary calcification and can be used as a biological indicator for coronary atherosclerosis.
