Abstract:Objective To discuss the correlation between level of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and severity of coronary artery lesions in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) in high altitude area. Methods CHD patients (n=161, male 87 and female 74) were chosen from People's Hospital of Qinghai Province from Jan. 2015 to Jan. 2017. All patients were divided, according to severity of coronary artery lesions, into 1-vessel lesion group (n=62), 2-vessel lesion group (n=44) and multi-vessel lesion group (n=55). The levels of blood fat, blood sugar, blood pressure (BP), free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxin (FT4) and TSH were detected, and the total Gensini integrals were calculated. Results The difference in age, total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), FT4, TSH and systolic blood pressure had statistical significance among 3 groups (all P<0.05). TSH level and Gensini integrals showed a positive correlation (r=0.82, P<0.05) in CHD patients in high altitude area. Conclusion TSH level is positively correlated to severity of coronary artery lesions in CHD patients in high altitude area.
