Abstract:Objective To understand the status of blood pressure in adolescents in Xuzhou area, and discuss the influence of different factors on hypertension. Methods The data source was Physical Examination Center of Xuzhou City, and middle school students aged from 13 to 16 (n=5141) were chosen by using random cluster sampling method from 2 middle schools and their height, weight and blood pressure were detected. Results The detection rate of hypertension was 3.05% in 5141 adolescents, and was 2.21% in those with normal weight, 3.67% in overweight ones and 7.22% in obesity ones (P<0.01). The age, height, weight and body mass index (BMI) all were higher in hypertension group than those in normal group (all P<0.01). The results of multi-factor Logistic regression analysis showed that BMI is significantly related to hypertension. Conclusion Obesity is an important factor inducing hypertension in adolescents, so reasonable weight control is a key measure for them to prevent hypertension.
