Management effect of regional medical association in patients with hypertension in community

Abstract:Objective To investigate the management effect of regional medical association in patients with hypertension in community.Methods Hypertensive patients (n=193, male 107, female 86, aged from 38 to 86 and average age=58.37±12.46) were chosen from Xinzhongjie Community Health Service Station of Center of Community Health Service in Beijing Dongcheng District from June 2014 to Apr. 2016. The awareness rate of hypertensive knowledge and changes of self-management behavior were surveyed by using self-made questionnaire before and after implement of regional medical association.Results The awareness rate of hypertensive knowledge was significantly increased after implement of regional medical association, including awareness rates of obesity (74.09%vs. 94.30%), salt (73.06%vs. 93.78%), and other factors (56.48%vs. 86.53%) as influence factor on blood pressure (BP), and awareness rates of BP normal range (64.25%vs. 87.56%), control measures for BP (55.44%vs. 80.83%) and smoking and drinking being harmful to health (79.79%vs. 97.93%, allP<0.05). The patients' self-management behaviors were significantly improved after implement of regional medical association, including taking drugs according to doctor's advice (75.13%vs. 92.23%), reasonable healthy diet (65.29%vs. 95.85%), insisting fitting exercise every day (69.43%vs. 93.78%), measuring BP regularly in hospital (54.92%vs. 96.89%), adopting measures actively for controlling BP (52.85%vs. 87.05%), and discussing present status of hypertension treatment with doctor in charge (52.33%vs. 84.97%, allP<0.05).Conclusion The implement of regional medical association can significantly improve the awareness rate of hypertensive knowledge and self-management ability in hypertensive patients in community.
