Abstract:Objective To investigate the influence of early home-based exercises for cardiac rehabilitation on ventricular function in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods AMI patients (n=50) were chosen from the Provincial Hospital of Anhui Province from Jan. 2015 to June 2016, and divided randomly into cardiac rehabilitation group (n=25, male 21 and female 4) received early home-based exercises for cardiac rehabilitation, and control group (n=25, male 19 and female 6) received only education and nursing of routine exercise rehabilitation. The examination of echocardiography was given 2 groups within 48 h after PCI and after PCI for 4 weeks, and global and segmental strain values of baseline and at the end of 4-week follow-up were analyzed by using Echo Pac-120 software. Results There were 2 cases missed in cardiac rehabilitation group, and 1 missed and 1 died in control group at the end of 4-week follow-up. The global and segmental strain values and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were significantly improved in cardiac rehabilitation group compared with control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion The early home-based exercises for cardiac rehabilitation can improve the ventricular function in AMI patients after PCI.
