Abstract:Objective To investigate prevalence and risk factors of bundle branch block (BBB) in elderly population in Shanghai Gao-hang community. Methods We selected the target population through cluster random sampling in the Shanghai Gao-hang community. The clinical baseline data of different age groups and the ratio of different types of bundle branch block were analyzed by using the Chi-square test. The risk factors of left bundle branch block (LBBB) and right bundle branch block (RBBB) were evaluated by logistic regression. Results The prevalence of LBBB was 1.34%, and RBBB was 4.56% in the Gao-hang community in Shanghai. BBB prevalence increased with age increasing. Results of multiple-logistic regression showed that age , male , hypertension, AMI and valvular heart disease are risk factors of LBBB, and the ORs (95%CI) were 1.081 (1.038~1.126), 2.089 (1.106~3.945), 1.973 (1.007~3.866), 5.807 (1.616~20.862), 5.566 (1.152~26.892) and 0.968 (0.937~0.999). The age [1.079 (1.053~1.105)], man [1.608 (1.102~2.346)] are risk factors of RBBB. Conclusions The prevalence of BBB is 5.9% in Gao-hang community of Shanghai. There was significant correlation between LBBB and cardiovascular risk factors, while RBBB was not associated with cardiovascular risk factors.
