Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between preoperative N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), left atrial volume (LAV) and recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency catheter ablation. Methods From January 2013 to June 2015, 179 atrial fibrillation patients received radiofrequency ablation surgery were divided into relapse group with 76 cases and non-recurrent group with 103 cases based on follow-up result. We compared preoperative plasma NT-proBNP and LAV index between two groups, and used the non-conditional Logistic regression model to explore the influence of LAV on plasma NT-proBNP on the recurrence after operation. Results NT-proBNP, LAV, LAEF was lower in the recurrence group when compared with the non-recurrence group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) between the recurrence group and the non-recurrence group (P>0.05). NT-proBNP increasing and LAV increasing are risk factors of recurrence after radiofrequency ablation. Elevated LAEF is a protective factor for recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablationConclusion NT-proBNP, LAV is an independent risk factor for recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency catheter ablation.
