Abstract:Objective Based on the theory of endogenous collateral wind, this study aims to compare the differences of eye collaterals between stable coronary heart disease (CHD) patients and non-CHD patients, to investigate the relationship between shape-and-color characteristics of eye collaterals and stable CHD, and to provide evidences for CHD treatment with the theory of endogenous collateral wind. Methods 68 stable CHD patients and 30 non-CHD patients as control were enrolled. Eye collaterals around the iris around at least 8 mm were captured and digitized using camera, and shape-and-color characteristics of eye collaterals were evaluated. Combined the theories of obstruction of collaterals and invasion of collaterals by evil wind, correlation between endogenous collateral wind and CHD were investigated.Result There was significant difference of color intensity of eye collaterals between CHD group and non-CHD group (P<0.05). There were also statistical differences between the two groups in the length of the collaterals, the thickness of the collaterals, the radius of curvature, the curvature and the area of the collaterals (P<0.05).Conclusion The shape-and-color characteristics of eye collaterals were correlated with stable CHD, may be used for prediction and evaluation of CHD.
