Interpretation on the 99th percentile value of cardiac troponin

Abstract："Specialists Consensus on Update of Third Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction. 2012"clearly pointed out the clinical value of cardiac troponin (cTn), and recommended cTn detection as the first choice for diagnosing myocardial infarction (MI). Number of consensus and guidelines advocated the cTn value above the 99th percentile value in healthy population as the critical reference for diagnosis of myocardial damage, MI, as well as risk stratification of acute coronary syndrome. However, many domestic doctors and scholars misunderstand the 99th percentile value of cTn in health population, which should be interpreted correctly.
