Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and emergency PCI in elderly patients with coronary heart disease. Methods A total of 160 patients with coronary heart disease who underwent PCI from May 2012 to May 2016 were selected from the Jintan District People's Hospital of Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, including 95 males and 65 females aged 60 to 89 years. 105 patients underwent PCI within one week after onset and were included in the elective group; 55 patients underwent PCI within 12 h after onset and were included in the emergency group. The efficacy of both groups was evaluated after surgery. The incidence of intraoperative and postoperative complications and major cardiovascular events during hospitalization was recorded.ResultsThere was no significant difference between the elective group and the emergency group in terms of target vessel count, PCI effect, target lesion, lesion length, preoperative vascular diameter, stent number and postoperative stenosis rate Gt (P>0.05). The detection rate of thrombosis in elective group was significantly lower than that in emergency group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of complication between the two groups (P>0.05). The proportion of postoperative bleeding in the emergency group was significantly higher than that in the elective group (14.55%vs. 3.81%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). At the same time, the incidence of cardiogenic death in the emergency group was significantly higher than that in the elective group (7.27%vs. 1.90%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Emergency PCI and elective PCI used in elderly patients with coronary heart disease are quite effective, but complications and the incidence of cardiovascular adverse events caused by the emergency PCI is much higher. Elective PCI is more appropriate for elderly patients with coronary heart disease.
