Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical value of esmolol hydrochloride injection applied in Flash scanning of coronary artery CTA examination. Methods 200 patients with coronary heart disease and heart rate≥70 times / min in the General Hospital of People's Liberation Army from October 2014 to February 2016 were enrolled and randomly divided into control group and experimental group (intravenous injection of esmolol hydrochloride). Each group has 100 patients. CT scan was performed with Siemens 64 slice CT scanner. The experimental group was treated with Flash scanning mode. The control group was treated with helical scan mode. The image quality is evaluated by 5-grade marking system (1 means excellent, 2 means good, 3 means general, 4 means poor). Results There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (P>0.05). The images of experimental group were scored as follow (55 images for grade 1, 22 images for grade 2, 15 images for grade 3, and 8 images for grade 4). The images of control group were scored as follow (60 images for grade 1, 20 images for grade 2, 13 images for grade 3, and 7 images for grade 4).Conclusion Applying esmolol hydrochloride injection before coronary artery CTA examination could slow down heart rate rapidly, safely and effectively. This new process can substantially reduce the radiation dose while maintaining good imaging quality.
