Abstract:Objective To analyze the influence of blood glucose level at admission time on heart function in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergone emergency PCI.Methods STEMI patients (n=180) undergone PCI were chosen, and divided, according to their blood glucose level at admission time and diabetes history, into group A (n=58, blood glucose<7.0 mmol/L without diabetes history), group B (n=65, blood glucose from 7.0 mmol/L to 11.1 mmol/L without diabetes history and stress blood glucose rising) and group C (n=57, blood glucose≥11.1 mmol/L with diabetes history). The heart function was observed in 3 groups, including level of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and Killip cardiac function grading. Results The level of BNP increased (P<0.05), LVEF decreased (P<0.05) and percentage of patients with Killip≥2 increased (P<0.05) in group B and group C compared with group A. The level of BNP increased (P<0.05) and LVEF decreased (P<0.05) in group C compared with group B.Conclusion The increased blood glucose level at admission time has the value for predicting heart function decline in STEMI patients undergone emergency PCI.
