Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of Tirofiban on long-term prognosis in acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods 156 acute STEMI patients treated with PCI in Chinese Medicine Hospital of Baoji from March 2013 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into 2 groups according to whether or not Tirofiban was used during PCI procedure: 78 patients in the observation group and 78 patients in the control group. The major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) rate during hospitalization and the follow-up period were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence of slow blood flow, the proportion of thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) grade III, the proportion of the myocardial blush grade (MBG) Ⅲ and ST segment depression> 50% (P>0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in MACE rate and hospital mortality, rate of non-fatal myocardial infarction and unplanned revascularization (P>0.05). The incidence of cardiac dysfunction in-hospital was significantly lower in the observation group than that in the control group (P<0.05). During follow up period, there were significant differences between the 2 groups in the rates of MACE, unplanned revascularization and readmission with cardiac causes (P<0.05), but there was no significantly difference in the rates of death and non-fatal myocardial infarction between the two groups (P>0.05). The result of Cox regression analysis showed that the use of Tirofiban could decrease the rates of MACE during follow-up (P<0.05).Conclusion Tirofiban may potentially improve the long-term prognosis in acute STEMI patients treated with PCI.
