Abstract:System review/Meta-analysis get more reliable results and conclusions through combining multiple similar studies to enlarge the sample size and improve the accuracy of statistics. However, difference and non-normative among original research result documents result in the absence of different types of raw data, in which the most common absence is missing of standard deviation in continuous data. Standard deviation is necessary for pooling the standard deviation in continuous data. At present, as to the lack of the standard deviation, methodologists have provided relevant estimate methods, such as methods ofP values, quartile and sample size conversion factors. In this paper, a brief summary of estimate methods for standard deviation and standardized mean differences in continuous data were made.
