Abstract:Objective To discuss the review effect of carotid ultrasonography in population with higher risk of cardiovascular diseases. Methods The patients with higher risk of cardiovascular diseases (n=180, male 104 and female 76) were chosen from the First Hospital of Yulin City from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2014. All patients were divided, according to carotid artery intima-media thickness (CA-IMT) detected with ultrasonography, into group A (CA-IMT≤1.0 mm,n=42), group B (1.0 mm<CA-IMT≤1.5 mm,n=71) and group C (CA-IMT>1.5 mm, n=67). The changes of peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), pulse index (PI) and resistance index (RI) were detected, and severity of cardiovascular diseases was reviewed by using coronary angiography (CAG).Results Compared with group A, age, risk factors and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events increased significantly in group C (allP<0.05). Compared with group B, systolic blood pressure and heart beat increased in group C (allP<0.05). The comparison in flow spectrum among 3 groups showed that SPV increased compared with group A [(86.97±34.62) cm/svs. (62.75±16.75) cm/s] and group B [(86.97±34.62) cm/svs. (75.91±17.22) cm/s, allP<0.05]. RI was higher in group C than that in group B [(0.87±0.09)vs. (0.79±0.20),P<0.05]. The percentage of patients with negative CAG was higher in group A, that of patients with 1-vessel lesion and 2-vessel lesion was higher in group B, and that of patients with 3-vessel lesion was higher in group C. As CA-IMT increased, the percentage of patients with severe lesion raised. Conclusion Carotid artery ultrasonography is one of important methods for reviewing the severity of cardiovascular lesion in population with higher risk of cardiovascular diseases.
