Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma D-dimer level and severity of heart failure in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF).Methods CHF patients (n=63, male 37, female 26 and average age=61.78±8.41) were chosen as CHF group from the Second People’s Hospital of Rudong County of Nantong City from Jan. 2013 to Sept. 2015. And then the CHF group was divided again, according to NYHA class, into class I group (n=13), class II group (n=12), class III group (n=20) and class IV group (n=18). At the same time, the subjects with normal physical examinations (n=32, male 19 and female 13) were chosen as control group. The level of plasma D-dimer was detected by using immunoturbidimetry in all groups. Results The level of plasma D-dimer was significantly higher in CHF group (1.26±0.74) μg/mL than that in control group (0.12±0.02) μg/mL (P<0.05). The level of plasma D-dimer was (0.34±0.08) μg/mL in class I group, (0.74±0.07) μg/mL in class II group, (1.34 ±0.38) μg/mL in class III group and (2.18±0.24) μg/mL in class IV group, which showed a ascending trend as heart function deteriorated (allP<0.05). The level of plasma D-dimer increased as the increase of NYHA class and they were positively correlated to each other (r=0.928,P<0.05).Conclusion The level of plasma D-dimer is positively correlated to degree of heart failure in CHF patients, and D-dimer can be taken as an index for predicting the severity of CHF.
