Abstract:Objective To investigate association between interleukin-6 (IL-6) gene -174G/C polymorphism and coronary heart disease (CHD) risk in Chinese population. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, CBM, VIP, Wanfang Data and CNKI to collect the case-control studies on the relationship between the IL-6 gene-174G / C polymorphism and CHD in Chinese population. The retrieval time was set form the time of establishing database to May 2016. Two reviewers independently screened the title, abstract and keywords of each publication retrieved. Stata 12.0 software was used to perform the meta-analysis. Results A total of 11 case-control studies with 2460 patients and 2758 healthy controls were enrolled. IL-6 gene -174 G/C polymorphism is significantly associated with CHD in Chinese populations in allele model (Cvs. G:OR=1.41, 95%CI: 1.27~1.57), homozygote model (CC vs. GG:OR=2.06, 95%CI: 1.65~2.56), dominant genetic model (CC+GCvs. GG:OR=1.33, 95%CI: 1.17~1.52), and recessive gene model (CCvs. GG+GC:OR=1.94, 95%CI: 1.57~2.40).Conclusion Results of our meta-analysis showed that IL-6 gene -174 G/C polymorphism might increase the risk of CHD in Chinese population.
