Abstract:Objective To observe the influence of anti-anxiety therapy on endothelial function in elderly patients with hypertension complicated with anxiety. Methods The patients aged over 75 were chosen (n=65, male 59, female 6 and average age=80.3±4.7) from the Fourth Department of Geriatrics of Chinese PLA Army General Hospital (primary General Hospital of Chinese PLA Beijing Military Area Command) from Mar. 2014 to Mar. 2016. All patients were randomly divided into observation group (n=33) and control group (n=32), and given anti-hypertension treatment and observation group was given additionally anti-anxiety therapy. The changes of reactive hyperemia index (RHI) were compared between 2 groups after 12 w.Results After treatment, RHI increased in observation group [(2.27±0.54)vs. (1.56±0.23),P<0.05]. Compared with control group after treatment, RHI increased in observation group [(1.56±0.33)vs. (2.27±0.54),P<0.05].Conclusion The anti-anxiety therapy can improve endothelial function in elderly patients with hypertension complicated with anxiety, which is helpful in preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
