The effect and safety of side-branch balloon protection technology in bifurcation lesions during PCI

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect and safety of side-branch balloon protection technology in the application of bifurcation lesions during PCI.Methods 89 patients diagnosed as bifurcation lesions were randomly divided into observation group (44 patients) and control group (45 patients). Patients in the observation group were treated by side-branch balloon protection technology, and patients in the control group were treated by side-branch wire protection technology. The effect and safety were investigated in the two groups.Results The success rates of PCI in the observation group and control group were both 100%. Operation time, the amount of contrast agent and the number of branch vessel stent implantation of the observation group were significantly less than those of the control group (P<0.05). The adverse events during the postoperative follow-up period were lower in the observation group.Conclusion Side-branch balloon protection technology is simple and convenient. This kind of technology has a certain value in clinical application.
