Abstract:Objective To investigate the application value of emergency bedside echocardiogram in diagnosis of acute cardiovascular diseases. Methods The patients with cardiovascular diseases (n=188, male 120, female 68, aged from 45 to 82 and average age=62.1±5.7) were chosen from the First People’s Hospital of Yangzhou City in Jiangsu Province from Jun. 2013 to Jan. 2015. All patients were given examinations of emergency bedside echocardiogram and routine 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) 30 min after hospitalization. The rate of accurateness, reaction time, examination duration and diagnostic duration were compared between 2 examination methods The results of echocardiogram and clinical confirmation (diagnosed by surgery, treatment or other imaging examinations) were compared. Results Of all 188 patients, 166 had definite diagnosis based on echocardiogram and the rate of accurateness was 88.3%. The difference in rate of accurateness between clinical confirmation and echocardiogram had no statistical significance (allP>0.05). The rate of accurateness of echocardiogram was significantly higher than that of ECG (88.3%vs. 48.9%,P<0.05). The reaction time, examination duration and diagnostic duration of echocardiogram were higher a little than those of ECG (allP>0.05).Conclusion Emergency bedside echocardiogram has higher rate of accurateness and shorter examination duration and diagnostic duration in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, which is benefit to quick diagnosis and early intervention of cardiovascular diseases.
