Abstract:Objective To survey the prevalence of insomnia, anxiety and depression in patients with chronic diseases in outpatient department of cardiology. Methods The patients (n=612, male 346 and female 266) were surveyed continuously from Mar. 1, 2015 to Mar. 31, 2015, and divided into chronic disease group (n=385) and non-chronic disease group (n=227) according to disease types. The sleeping status was reviewed by using Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and degrees of depression and anxiety were reviewed by using Zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depressive scale (SDS) in all patients. Result The patients were divided, according to PSQI scores, into insomnia group (PSQI>7, n=212) and non-insomnia group (PSQI≤7, n=400). The age was significantly elder in insomnia group than that in non-insomnia group (P<0.05). Among patients with insomnia, female ones accounted for a higher percentage. The average age and proportion of insomnia patients were significantly higher in chronic disease group than those in non-chronic disease group (all P<0.05). The percentages of anxiety (39.2% vs. 26.0%) and depression (35.1% vs. 22.5%) were significantly higher in chronic disease group than those in non-chronic disease group (all P<0.05). Conclusion The percentage of insomnia patients is higher and that of anxiety-depression ones is higher too in patients with chronic diseases in outpatient department of cardiology, which should be paid more attention to.
