Abstract:Objective To investigate association between carboxy-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP) and Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) levels and coronary artery changes in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods 178 patients were selected, 136 in CHD group which including 88 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS group) and 48 patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP group) ,and 42 patients of coronary angiography (CAG) negative in control group. The level of ICTP and MMP-2 was compared among different vessels, status and types of CHD. Results The expression of ICTP and MMP-2 increased significantly in ACS group and SAP group compared with control group, especially in SAP group (P<0.05). The expression of ICTP was statistically different among single vessel group, two vessel group, three vessel group ,mild group, medium group, severe group ,type A group, type B group, type C group when compared with control group (P<0.05). The expression of MMP-2 was statistically different among two vessel group, three vessel group ,medium group, severe group, type B group, type C group when compared with control group (P<0.05), but not different among mild group, single vessel group, type A group when compared with control group. ICTP was positively correlated to MMP-2. Conclusion The increase of ICTP and MMP-2 activity is a relative risk factor of severe coronary disease in CHD patients.
