Abstract:Objective To investigate the associations between oxidized low-density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL) with severity and outcome of acute ischemic stroke (AIS).Methods Serum of 141 AIS patients (AIS group) and 30 normal subjects (control group) were collected. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to test the level of serum Ox-LDL in two groups, the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) were used to evaluate their neurological deficit on the first day of admission, and the Barthel Index (BI) were used to measure activities of daily living at sixth month. Results Ox-LDL level of AIS group was significantly higher than control group (P<0.05). Ox-LDL level of AIS group was correlated with NIHSS score (r=0.056,P<0.05), but not related to BI score (P<0.05).Conclusion Ox-LDL level of AIS patients is correlated with severity but not related to prognostic indicator.
