Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship between clinical characteristics and coronary artery disease characteristics in female patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) before and after menopause. Methods The data of 200 female patients with CHD was retrospectively analyzed from May 2010 to Aug. 2013, and then divided into menopause group (n=140) and non-menopause group (n=60). The general data, including age, hypertension history and diabetes, were collected from the patients. The characteristics of coronary artery disease were compared based on the outcomes of coronary angiography (CAG) in female CHD patients before and after menopause. Results The average age was (46.00±5.21) in non-menopause group and (59.00±4.01) in menopause group. The percentages of patients with hypertension and diabetes history were significantly higher, and CHD family history was significantly lower in menopause group than those in non-menopause group (P<0.05). In non-menopause group, the percentage of patients with 1-vessel disease was the highest, and that of patients with 2-vessel or 3-vessel diseases was lower (P<0.05), and percentages of patients with left circumflex branch disease and right coronary artery disease were higher than those in menopause group (P<0.05). The percentage of patients with stable angina pectoris was higher (P<0.05), and that of patients with myocardial infarction was lower in non-menopause group than those in menopause group (P<0.05).Conclusion Before menopause, the severe complicated degree of coronary artery disease is lower, the percentages of patients with unstable angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction are lower. The percentage of patients with 3-vessel disease was the lowest, and that of 2-vessel or 3-vessel diseases is lower. The most of patients have CHD family history and hypertension history. After menopause, the range and severe of coronary artery disease increase, and the percentages of patients with hypertension history and diabetic history is significantly higher compared with non-menopause women.
