Abstract:Objective To compare the combination of risk factors related to coronary heart disease (CHD) and characteristics of coronary artery disease between elderly patients and young patients. Methods The elderly patients with CHD (n=100, male 71, female 29, aged from 63 to 87 and average age=72.8±2.7) were chosen as study group from Feb. 2012 to May 2015. Meanwhile the young patients with CHD (n=100, male 76, female 24, aged from 29 to 44 and average age=35.8±1.7) were chosen as control group. The general materials and biochemical index data were collected from patients, including blood pressure (BP), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C). The status of coronary artery disease was detected by using coronary angiography (CAG).Results Compared with control group, systolic BP and pulse pressure increased, and the proportion of patients with family history of hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases increased in study group (allP<0.05). Compared with control group, uric acid [(345.2 ±45.2) μmol/Lvs. (361.5±85.2) μmol/L] and blood urea nitrogen [(4.9±1.2) mmol/Lvs. (6.3±1.4) mmol/L] increased in study group (allP<0.05). The level of TG increased [(2.3±0.7) mmol/Lvs. (1.7±0.9) mmol/L], level of HDL-C decreased [(1.1±0.3) mmol/Lvs. (1.3±0.2) mmol/L] in control group compared with study group (all P<0.05). The proportion of patients with left circumflex lesion and right coronary artery lesion increased, and that of patients with 3-vessel disease increased in study group compared with control group (allP<0.05).Conclusion BP, uric acid and blood urea nitrogen should be controlled actively in elderly CHD patients compared with young CHD patients. The family history of hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (involving seriously coronary artery) should be paid more attention to.
