Abstract:Objective To evaluate the predictive value of aortic arch calcification(AAC) in coronary artery disease patients.Method We retrospectively enrolled 305 consecutive patients (216 males, 89 females) with chest pain who underwent coronary artery angiography between January and April, 2015 in Cardiology Department, Yuebei People’s hospital. Anteroposterior chest radiography was used to assess the presence of AAC. Based on the diagnosis of AAC, the male and female patients were individually divided into calcification group and non-calcification group. Comparisons of traditional risk factors and the prevalence of coronary artery disease were performed between groups. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate the predictors of coronary artery disease. Results In multivariate analysis, AAC (OR=3.202, 95%CI:1.047~9.789,P=0.041)and age (OR=1.097, 95%CI:1.019~1.181,P=0.014)were independent predictors for coronary artery disease in female group, while in male group, age(OR=1.053, 95%CI:1.017~1.090,P=0.004) and hyperlipemia (OR=2.172, 95%CI:1.055~4.474,P=0.035) were independent predictors. Conclusion AAC on chest radiography can predict coronary artery disease independently from traditional risk factors only in female patients.
