Abstract:Objective To compare the difference in adhesion molecules and inflammatory factors among patients with hypertension complicating diabetes, patients with hypertension and health population. Methods Hypertensive patients (n=120, male 68 and female 52) were chosen from May 2014 to May 2015, and divided into hypertension group (n=78) and hypertension+diabetes group (n=42). Other health controls were chosen as health group (n=40). The levels of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), vascular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were detected. Results Compared with health group, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure (BP), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) increased in other 2 groups (all P<0.05). The levels of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and total cholesterol (TC) increased in hypertension+diabetes group compared with health group and hypertension group (all P<0.05). The levels of ICAM-1, VCAM-1 and MMP-9 increased in hypertension group and hypertension+diabetes group compared with health group (all P<0.05), and increased in hypertension+diabetes group compared with hypertension group (all P<0.05). The levels of IL-6, IL-8, TNF-ɑ and CRP increased in hypertension group and hypertension+diabetes group compared with health group (all P<0.05), and increased in hypertension+diabetes group compared with hypertension group (all P<0.05). Conclusion At the same time of blood sugar increases, the levels of adhesion molecules and inflammatory factors increase too in patients with hypertension.
