Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship between homocysteine (Hcy) and coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods CHD patients (n=120, male 63, female 7 and average age=52.8±10.1) undergone coronary angiography (CAG) were chosen from Jan. 2011 to Dec. 2014. All patients were divided into test group (n=92, with at least 1 coronary artery stenosis≥50%among 3 coronary arteries) and control group (n=28, with all 3 coronary artery stenosis<50%). The test group was divided, according to clinical types, into stable angina pectoris group (SAP group, n=26), unstable stable angina pectoris group (UAP group, n=31) and acute myocardial infarction group (AMI group, n=35), and divided, according to Syntax scores, into low-risk group (0-22 scores, n=18), mid-risk group (23-32 scores, n=29) and high-risk group (over 33 scores, n=45). The level of Hcy was detected in all groups. Results Compared with control group, the level of Hcy increased [(10.93±2.51)μmol/L vs. (21.93±5.54)μmol/L] and percentage of patients with hyperhomocysteinemia increased (14.28%vs. 51.08%) in test group (all P<0.05). The level of Hcy had a increasing trend in SAP group, UAP group and AMI group, and was significantly higher in UAP group and AMI group than that in control group [(17.85±5.67)μmol/L vs. (10.93±2.51)μmol/L, (24.56 ±5.03)μmol/L vs. (10.93±2.51)μmol/L, all P<0.05]. The level of Hcy was higher in low-risk group, mid-risk group and high-risk group than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The level of Hcy is closely related to the occurrence and severity of CHD, and detection of Hcy is significant to preventing CHD.
