A Meta-analysis on treatment of angina pectoris of coronary heart disease with Yangxin Tang

Abstract：Objective To review systematically the efficacy and safety of Yangxin Tang in the treatment of angina pectoris of coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods The databases of Cochrane Library, PubMed, CBM, VIP Database, CNKI and WanFang Database were retrieved for collecting clinical randomized controlled trials (RCT) on the treatment of CHD angina pectoris with Yangxin Tang, Yangxin Tang combining Western drugs or routine Western drug therapy. The data was extracted according to data extract table, and given methodological quality review by applying Cochrane reviews standard for clinical trial quality and analysis by using RevMan5.3 software. Results There were totally 5 trials accorded with inclusion criteria but their methodological quality was lower. The results of Meta-analysis showed that routine therapy combining Yangxin Tang was superior to routine therapy in improving ECG (OR=1.78, 95%CI:1.16~2.72), while the difference in relieving angina pectoris (OR=0.08,95%CI:-0.01~0.16) and stopping or reducing rate of nitroglycerin (OR=1.77,95%CI:1.00~3.14) had no statistical significance. All included RCT had no adverse reactions reported. Conclusion Routine therapy combining Yangxin Tang has some effect on improving ECG in patients with CHD angina pectoris. However, the methodological quality and report quality of current small-sampled RCT are lower, further clinical RCT with large sample and strict design is needed for confirming the evidence of curative effect.
