Effect of Huangqi Injection on renal injury due to primary hypertension

Abstract：Objective To observe the protective effect of Huangqi Injection on kidney through reducing the excretion of microalbuminuria (MAL) in patients with renal injury due to primary hypertension.Methods The patients were randomly divided into routine group and Huangqi Injection group (eachn=45), and given low-salt fine-protein diet, were asked to lose weight, give up smoking and avoid kidney toxin drugs, and given treatment of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) and calcium channel blocker (CCB) for anti-hypertension. Huangqi Injection group was additionally given Huangqi Injection (40 mL) and 5% glucose solution (250 mL) through intravenous drip once a day for 4 w. The changes of blood pressure, serum creatinine (Cr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), blood fat, urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) and β2-microglobulin (β2-MG) were monitored in 2 groups before and after treatment.Results After treatment, UAER [(68.67±14.28) mg/24hvs. (80.87±14.77) mg/24h,P<0.05] and β2-MG [(2.21±0.55) mg/Lvs. (3.42±0.67) mg/L,P<0.05] decreased significantly in Huangqi Injection group compared with routine group. The levels of TC [(4.69±0.62) mmol/Lvs. (5.23±0.61) mmol/L,P<0.05], TG [(1.47±0.09) mmol/Lvs. (1.54±0.10) mmol/L,P<0.05] and LDL-C [(2.95±0.12) mmol/Lvs. (3.02±0.12) mmol/L,P<0.05] decreased significantly in Huangqi Injection group after treatment. Blood pressure decreased significantly in 2 groups after treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of UAER and β2-MG decreased significantly in Huangqi Injection group compared with routine group, which proves that Huangqi Injection combining routine anti-hypertension therapy can further reduce the excretion of MAL and indicates that Huangqi Injection has the cooperation effect with routine Western drugs in protecting kidney.
