Abstract:Objective To compare the curative effects between ezetimibe combining rosuvastatin and single rosuvastatin (increasing dose) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) whose blood fat cannot reach the target value after statin treatment.. Methods T2DM patients [n=86, male 58, female 28 and mean age=(64.76± 11.3)],with LDL-C>100 mg/dL and treated with rosuvastatin (2.5 mg/d) for 12 w but still LDL-C>80 mg/dL, were chosen from Sept. 2012 to Sept. 2013. All patients were randomly divided into rosuvastatin+ezetimibe group and rosuvastatin group (each n=43), and the former was treated with rosuvastatin (2.5 mg) and ezetimibe (10 mg) and the latter was treated with rosuvastatin (10 mg) based on routine therapy for 12 w. The changes of blood fat level, creatine kinase MB (CK-MB), liver function, plasma glucose and insulin were observed. Results Compared with baseline within the same group, LDL-C, TG and TC decreased and the percentage of cases with LDL-C<80 mg/dL and LDL-C<100 mg/dL increased in 2 groups after treatment (all P<0.05). Compared with rosuvastatin group, LDL-C [(90±18) mg/dL vs. (72±15) mg/dL], TG [(122±12) mg/dL vs. (103±13) mg/dL] and TC [(146±13) mg/dL vs. (138±16) mg/dL] decreased in rosuvastatin+ezetimibe group after treatment (all P<0.05). The percentage of cases with LDL-C<80 mg/dL and LDL-C<100 mg/dL increased in rosuvastatin+ezetimibe group compared with rosuvastatin group (all P<0.05). The comparison in aspertate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and gastrointestinal reaction had no statistical significance between 2 groups before and after treatment (all P>0.05). Conclusion The curative effect of rosuvastatin combining ezetimibe is better than single intensive rosuvastatin in T2DM patients whose blood fat cannot reach the target value after statin treatment.
