Abstract:Objective To compare the long-term curative effect between radiofrequency catheter ablation and drug therapy in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods The AF patients (n=26) were chosen continuously and treated with radiofrequency catheter ablation of circumferential pulmonary vein isolation under the guidance of CARTO. At the same time other 26 AF patients were chosen and treated with drugs. The incidence of AF and atrial tachycardia (AT) were observed and followed up. Results The average follow-up period was 28.7 m. In ablation group there were 73.1%cases with successful operation and in drug group there were 11.5%cases without AF attack (P<0.001). Conclusion The long-term curative effect of radiofrequency catheter ablation is much better than that of drug therapy.
