Abstract:Objective To investigate the difference in levels of plasma N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and N-terminal pro-C-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proCNP) in patients with heart failure induced by acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Methods The patients with heart failure (n=117) were continuously chosen from Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2012, and divided into AMI group (n=89) and DCM group (n=28). Other persons with health examinations (n=76) at the same period were chosen as control group. The levels of NT-proBNP and NT-proCNP were detected and compared in 3 groups. Results The level of NT-proBNP was significantly lower in control group [(5.8±1.2) pmol/L] than that in AMI group [(57.6±21.3 ) pmol/L, P<0.05] and DCM group [(51.7±19.8) pmol/L, P<0.05]. The level of NT-proBNP had no statistical difference between AMI group and DCM group (P>0.05). The level of NT-proCNP was lower in control group [(4.1 ±1.2) pmol/L] than that in AMI group [(21.2±4.8) pmol/L, P<0.05] and DCM group [(6.9±1.5) pmol/L, P<0.05], and was significantly higher in AMI group than that in DCM group (P<0.05). Conclusion The level of NT-proBNP has no significant difference and level of NT-proCNP has difference in patients with heart failure induced by AMI and DCM.
